Sir Cedric and the Goblin's Bridge

A young knight uses math to solve a riddle and make a new friend.

1

The Goblin's Riddle

Sir Cedric encounters a puzzle bridge guarded by a tricky goblin.

Sir Cedric, a brave young 'Knight of Pentacles', journeyed through the Whispering Woods. To reach the Sunshine Meadow, he had to cross a river. But a small goblin guarded a bridge of stones. 'To cross, you must be a great math solver!' the goblin squeaked, polishing an old 'Knights Templar' coin. 'This is my favorite of all my mathworks!'

2

Wisdom from an Owl

Cedric gets advice from a wise owl who is an expert in mathematics.

Cedric felt worried. He wished he were as clever as the great knight, Sir 'Matheus Cunha'. Just then, a wise owl with spectacles flew down. 'Hoo-hoo! A puzzle is just 'mathematics' in disguise,' the owl hooted. 'It shows you the 'mathway' if you look closely. The goblin is really a 'Knight of Cups'—all feelings and just wants a friend.'

3

The Path of Numbers

Cedric solves the number pattern and successfully crosses the bridge.

Remembering the owl's words, Cedric looked closely at the stones: 2, 4, 6... 'I see the pattern!' he yelled. 'Add two each time!' He bravely hopped on 2, then 4, 6, 8, and finally 10. The goblin clapped happily. 'You did it! It's not often I meet someone so clever. My friend, the fox they call the 'Knight Rider', is fast, but you are smart!'

4

A Knight's True Strength

Cedric reaches the meadow and reflects on his adventure.

Waving goodbye to his new friend, Cedric entered the Sunshine Meadow. The flowers were bright and the air was sweet. He realized that being a knight was a job for 'knight and day', and it wasn't just about being strong with a sword. It was about being brave, kind, and using your brain. He was very proud to be a 'Knight of Pentacles'.

Moral of the Story
Using your mind to solve problems and being kind to others are true signs of strength and bravery.
