Leo's Sad Sunflower

Leo discovers a wilting sunflower in his garden.

Leo loved spending time in his sunny backyard, which was filled with tall green plants and colorful flowers. One morning, as he playfully chased a butterfly, he noticed something unusual. Near the fence, a magnificent sunflower, usually standing tall and proud, looked droopy and sad. Its big yellow petals were wilting, and its leaves hung low. "Oh no!" Leo whispered, his bright eyes filling with concern. "Are you thirsty, dear sunflower?" He felt a little ache in his heart, wishing he could help his quiet garden friend.

A Tiny Friend and a Big Breath

Leo overcomes a small fear to help the sunflower.

Leo rushed inside to grab his small red watering can. When he came back, a tiny, emerald-green beetle was slowly crawling on one of the sunflower's drooping leaves. Leo, who wasn't very fond of bugs, gasped and took a step back. But then he remembered the sad sunflower. He took a deep breath, puffed out his cheeks, and slowly moved closer. "It's just a tiny beetle, and it lives here," he told himself bravely. He carefully poured water around the sunflower's base, making sure not to disturb the little beetle. The water quickly soaked into the dry earth, like the sunflower was drinking it all up.

The Sunflower Smiles Back

The sunflower recovers, and Leo feels proud and happy.

The next morning, Leo raced outside. He gasped, but this time it was with joy! The sunflower stood tall and strong, its big yellow face turned towards the sun, beaming. Its petals were perky again, and the leaves were green and full. It looked like it was smiling! Leo felt a warm, bubbly feeling in his chest. He had helped his garden friend, and it felt wonderful. From that day on, Leo knew that even small acts of kindness could make a big difference, especially in the beautiful, living world around him. He learned that all living things, big or small, need care and that helping them makes the whole world a brighter place.
